2012 Northeastern Jurisidiction Conference

 

Request for Decision of Law

At the 2012 Northeastern Jurisdictional Conference a request for a decision of law was made during the report of the NEJ Episcopacy Committee.  In accordance with the 2008 Book of Discipline, this ruling has been made by Bishop Thomas J. Bickerton (presiding bishop) in consultation with the NEJ College of Bishops.  This decision has been submitted to the Judicial Council within the time frame mandated by the 2008 Book of Discipline.  Further information regarding when this decision will be acted upon by the Judicial Council is not available at this time.

Decision making following Holy Conferencing Principles is a spiritual and balanced way of seeking God's guidance.  These Principles allow for the celebrating of diverse points of view and promotes a coming together to agree on and value decisions made in a spiritual and unprejudiced way.  All organizations are urged to utilize these Principles in their discussions and decision making.

  • Every person is a child of God
  • Listen before speaking
  • Strive to understand from another's point of view
  • Speak about issues, do not defame persons  Disagree without being disagreeable
  • Pray,  in silence or aloud, before decisions.  Let prayer interrupt your busy-ness
  • Strive to accurately reflect the views of others.
